I created a bible verse plugin called “Bible Verses”. This is a forum where you can ask questions about the plugin or requests things for the Bible Verses plugin.
I created this plugin for myself but thought some others may like it too.

For whatever reason, this isn’t working for me. I have the latest Joplin and entered the API key, but it just says that no verses are found in the note. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks for asking about the trouble. I am happy to help. First question are you trying on mobile or desktop?
Desktop
Did you restart the application after entering the API key? It needs to restart to take affect.
Also are you able to provide and example of the bible reference you are trying to get be picked up by the plugin?
Yes, I did restart. I’ve tried various things: John 1:1 John 1: 1 John 1:1-2 But to no avail.
I noticed that windows if you just click the X it will leave Joplin open in the system tray. Make sure to close Joplin from System tray after entering API key to ensure full restart.
I could look into messaging for this in app
Thanks, but I don’t think restarting is the issue. Should I try to get a new API key?
Give that a try and I'll try more testing of things on my end
I tried with a new account and API key, but it didn’t work. Still says “No Bible verses found in this note.”
Double checking. Are you pulling API key from here API.Bible API
Should be credentials
Yes. I followed the link on your documentation page.
Hmm… What OS are you running? I’ve been testing on Linux and Windows?
Are you able to got to help>toggle development tools>Console and see if you see any errors?
I checked in Console, and did a filter on the word “error” and the only ones that show up say “No errors”
I’m using the latest Windows 11 Home, version 26200.
OK. I have tested on Windows 11. Sorry having trouble with this. I am going to work on getting a new release with improved logging to help trouble shoot.
It took me longer than I wanted but there is a new version out that has improved logging. If you could update to the newest version. Then pull up the log file and send it here. It should be in the same directory as the default joplin log.txt
C:\Users.config\joplin-desktop\bible_verse_log.txt
bible_verse_log.txt (5.9 KB)
Here’s the log.
From what I am seeing from the logs is that it is having trouble pulling the bible version and verse text from the API.
Sorry more question to check:
I did change it, but I’ve tried several different versions including the default, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference.
Yes
I’m not sure where to check to see if it’s live and non-commercial.
