I was using Joplin 1.0.220 on Windows. Then I open the Joplin 1.0.227 on macOS. Suddenly all my notes become inside conflicts. I lost my notebooks and tags.

I’m using Joplin 1.0.233 on Linux Mint 20. I set up a file system sync target on a path way that isn’t always mounted and just got the same result as EmadMokhtar due to the target not being mounted yet.
As in my own case there is no genuine conflict (I only use one device and sync purely for backup) this is especially undesired behaviour. Any way to avoid Joplin deleting my notebooks (notwithstanding the brittle solution of making sure I only use/sync Joplin when my backup location is mounted)?

Happily I was able to restore my notebook structure, but I’d still be keen to know if there’s a way for this to be handled less destructively. If not, here’s a crude draft suggestion of a possible improvement:
