Adding a Delete icon next to a particular note in desktop application

Current way to delete a note would be to go to note and click on permanently deleting a note.

Would adding a note delete icon next to the note be useful feature?

When I started using Joplin this was something that also confused me. How do I delete the note?

I was also confused about renaming the note. I wanted to do that in the “note navigation” but you fan only rename notes in the title.

There are more ways to delete notes in desktop Joplin.

You can right-click a note in the note list, then select Delete Note from the context menu.

You could also visit the note in question, open the command palette with Ctrl+Shift+P, then use the Delete note (deleteNote) or Permanently delete note (permanentlyDeleteNote) commands to delete the note.

With multiple deletion options that seem to match similar editors like Obsidian (as seen in their Manage notes Help page), is a one-click Delete note icon necessary?

I would be worried that it would make it too easy to inadvertently delete notes (even with Joplin’s deleted note notifications and trash feature).

Even mobile Joplin makes deleting notes a two-step process: holding a note item, then tapping the trash can icon that appears in the toolbar.

I get your point muzak , instead of making it one-click we can instead make it a two step process by adding an alert like “Are you sure you want to delete this note?”. The whole point behind this idea is to make the Joplin application user friendly that can make it easier for everyone to use the application whether they have just started using Joplin or they have been using it for a long time.

Renaming a note like Jordan said or Deleting a note is just a part of it , More feature can be added alongside that for example bookmarking a note, saving the note as a pdf,etc.

Please let me know your views on this.

I second this dev_g_465. I think there should definetly be a confirmation dialog in this method of deleting notes, but I think that adding this button will improve the UX.
