Unable to sync/install to 3.7 on old Mac OS

What issue do you have?

I'm on an older Mac and unable to upgrade my OS to anything later Catalina 10.15.8. Joplin 3.7+ isn't compatible with this OS. Is there any older version of Joplin that I can install that will work on OS 10.15 and still sync?

I'd like to continue using Joplin but will need to move back to Notes or another app if I can't sync since using across devices is a requirement for me.

Explanation

I am not a developer, I have just had a rummage through some changelogs. If anyone knows a way to achieve what you want I hope they will comment.

From the Electron changelog it looks like macOS 10.15 support ended with Electron 33 around AUG 2024 (Electron is the framework used to build Joplin).

From looking at the changelog for Joplin Desktop, the last Joplin version to use a version before Electron 33 was Joplin Desktop v3.2.12 pre-release published JAN 2025 (which can be found here).

However you are using Joplin Cloud and syncing with other devices. When v3.7 was released it made changes to how data was synced. If any of your other clients are v3.7.x and have synced with Joplin Cloud, v3.2.12 will not sync.
