Joplin for old macOS distribution

Operating system

macOS

Joplin version

3.2.1

What issue do you have?

Hello, I'm new to Joplin on my laptop and I can't install the app because my OS is too old (10.14.6). Is there a legacy version I could use?
Thanks!

@trefle welcome to the forum.

From looking at the release notes it appears that with Joplin v3.0.0, Joplin was moved from Electron v26 to v29. Electron is the framework used to build Joplin. That "jump" included the changes made in Electron v27 where macOS 10.13 & 10.14 were no longer supported by the Electron maintainers. This was because Chromium had dropped support for those older macOS versions.

So it looks like you need a version prior to v3.0.0. There was v2.14.23 released in AUG24 that had modifications for those that found they could not upgrade to v3.0 at that time. This can be obtained from this page on GitHub.

This is not a "long term support release" for those using old operating systems. It was just provided for those that suddenly found themselves without a working client and gave them time to change or upgrade their OS.

Hello dpoulton, thanks for your swift reply, this looks exactly like what I need! I've downloaded that version and it seems to be working just fine on my laptop. I'm aware that it's not maintained but it's still great to have it :slight_smile:

Thanks again for your help !
