What issue do you have?
I am trying to import all of my Writer Plus (Writer+) markdown files in their respective folders, preferably with their metadata as to date created / last modified intact, into Joplin on my Android 14 tablet. These files and folders simply exist in Android in the Documents folder, not the Data folder.
But I can't figure out how to import markdown files at all. The Android app and the website say it is possible, but in reality, I can't find the methods they speak of.
The Android Joplin app takes the user to the website which says:
"Joplin can import notes from plain Markdown file. You can either import a complete directory of Markdown files or individual files
In the Desktop application, Go to File > Import > MD - Markdown (directory) and select the top level of the directory that is being imported. Directory (folder) structure will be preserved in the Notebook > Subnotebook > Note structure within Joplin."
But this isn't the Desktop application, and on Android, there is no option that says "File."
All I can find is "Configuration > Import and Export > Import from Jex."
There is no option to import markdown (md) files or text (txt) files, much less the entire directory of folders and subfolders that exists in the Android Documents folder.
I am using the latest version of Joplin with the APK downloaded directly from the website.
I also tried just using an Android file manager to go into Documents > Writer and open up even a single markdown file with Joplin by going to Open with > Open As > Text, but Android brings up several apps to open the file, but not Joplin. A couple of other text editors did open the files, and to test, I made some changes and saved the files, but in Android, the files continue to show that the last date modified was several months ago, leading me to believe that only the Writer Plus app or another similar app such as Joplin that imports the entire set of files and folders can change the metadata?
Does anyone know how I can do this, and preferably while maintaining both the metadata, and most importantly of all, the elaborate structure of folders and subfolders and sub-subfolders, and sub-sub-subfolders?
Thank you very much.
