Syncing with git in the Desktop version

I am interested in syncing my notes using git. Where is the folder containing the notes I need to put under version control? I was following this question Best method to backup notes but it was not clear to me how to do this in the Desktop version. Is the file `~/.config/joplin-desktop/database.sqlite the one that I need to put under git? Thanks.

Depends what you want to do, sync or backup? For backup, export RAW format from Joplin into git.

This is what i do now, but native GitHub / GitLab would be nice.
