What issue do you have?

Sync on one Windows PC is not downloading resources.

Sync on a Windows PC has downloaded all notes fine, but does not download attachments, when clicking the Synchronize button, it spins (maybe a minute) like it is trying, but does not continue to download attachments.

Have 2 PC's and an Android phone, 1 PC is not downloading resources, the others do fine.

WinPC1 is the "original" Joplin Database (imported from EN), set to sync to Dropbox:

WinPC1 sync target=Dropbox (syncs fine)
sync log shows:
Attachments
Not downloaded: 0
Downloading: 0
Downloaded and decrypted: 13
Downloaded and encrypted: 0
Created locally: 14970
Error: 0

Android sync target=Dropbox (syncs fine)
sync log shows:
Attachments
Not downloaded: 0
Downloading: 0
Downloaded and decrypted: 14975
Downloaded and encrypted: 0
Created locally: 8
Error: 0

WinPC2 sync target=Dropbox (sync incomplete)
sync log shows:
Attachments
Not downloaded: 14912
Downloading: 3
Downloaded and decrypted: 68
Downloaded and encrypted: 0
Created locally: 0
Error: 0

On WinPC2 everything else seems to be downloaded fine, just not attachments.
Have tried waiting 2 days but it does not change.
Tried "Delete local data and re-download from sync target", but it seems to do the same thing: download all notes, but stops on attachments.
Verified that there is sufficient local disk space on WinPC2.

How can I tell what is making Joplin stop downloading attachments?

Screenshots

Is the attachment download behavior on?
On your WinPC2 go to Tools > Options > Synchronisation > Open "Show Advanced Settings" > Look under "Attachment download behaviour"
Is the Dropbox there showing "Always"?

"Attachment download behavior" is set to "Always".

and notes with attachments display:

"Please wait for all attachments to be downloaded and decrypted. You may also switch to Code View to edit the note.

Status: notDownloaded"

so I did wait, but nothing seems to be downloading. (encryption is not enabled).

In the app window it shows:
Joplin WinPC2 sync

...just speculating, but it's like it's possibly stuck on those 3 files (?).
But I don't see any obvious error, or message in the sync status or log.txt.

"

There is sth that strikes me, and there are two (or more) explanations for this ...
Quite many times when a strange error is reported here on the forum, the OP mentioned that he uses Dropbox. Coincidence ?
explanation no.1 : quite many people use dropbox (and sure it is popular), so necessarily it shows up in complaints,
expl. no.2 : dropbox has a more general, but not consistent problem with Joplin.

Before you all to quickly discard expl. no.2, and in particular if you have already spend a lot of time not solving your problem .... think about another sync target.

I had this exact same issue.
So I gave up the direct connection with dropbox.

No problem with the desktop version.
But on the mobile version, these issues kept happening.

I'm not sure what it is, but even after unencrypting...
I think it's the residual files that are encrypted that are causing the problem.

I also had the same situation where only the mobile version was unable to download attachments, like the body.
And Synchronization is interrupted. 3/183........

You can re-upload that attachment from your desktop, but.....
Anyway, disconnect Joplin's direct dropbox connection.

"Direct connection between Joplin and Dropbox. Encryption On. After, Unencrypt."
I'm guessing this combination is causing the problem.
Of course, it might not. I don't know. Anyway, I think I made some kind of mistake.

And use something else.
OneDrive, Syncthing, Dropsync, JoplinCloud.
I abandoned the direct connection between Joplin and Dropbox in the new profile,
and am cruising along clean and trouble-free.
