Show date created instead of last edit date

Operating system

Joplin version

Desktop version info

What issue do you have?

Hi, when I'm editing a note in Joplin the date and time in the top right corner (on Mac - see screenshot) shows last edited. Is there a way to persistently show the date created instead? For my particular way of working this would be much more useful than date edited. Thanks

You can't do that on the editor itself, but on desktop, you should be able to show the created date next to the note name in the note list, and you can sort by creation date as well

Many thanks for your prompt reply. Sorry to be a pain but could you run me through how to get the created date next to the note name in the list? I had a quick look through the settings and there is nothing obvious to me.

Here's an AI generated answer, but sounds about right from what I remember:

In recent versions of Joplin, you can show the Created date column in the note list, but only in the Detailed note list style.

Steps:

Open View → Note list style → Detailed
In the note list header row, right-click the column headers
Enable Created date
Optionally disable Updated date or drag columns to reorder them

You can also sort by creation date via:

View → Sort notes by → Created date

That worked! Thanks again. Much appreciated.
