Shortcuts Overview

Thanks a lot @Daeraxa . Could be helpful to add the shortcut list in the "Help" menu I think.

One of the ideas I had for GSoC was to improve the integration in general so that it can share shortcuts etc. because at the moment they are basically hard coded.

It would be a nice gimmick to have something like Zettlr Shortcuts / GitHub - nathanlesage/cheatsheet-generator: Generates cheatsheets for your (favourite) apps.

I'm experimenting with Joplin (as someone a bit disappointed with the slowness of the new Evernote) and so far there is a lot to like - very fast, open source, good keyboard shortcuts, including for navigation around the app and so on. One thing I'm a bit amazed at though is the lack of a keyboard shortcut for adding tags - thought this would have been one of the very first shortcuts? Anyway looking forward to playing with Joplin some more

It's Ctrl+Alt+T on windows/linux. I imagine its Cmd+Alt+T on macOS.

Thanks. I tried that and also Ctrl Shft T (as that is the format of the other navigation shortcuts) but neither seemed to work for me? Good to know it is available though so will experiment some more

Is there none for strikethrough? That would be pretty useful

Here Ctrl-Alt-T toogle a note from backlink ignore list.

Is there a shortcut to go to the next/previous note? Could see it here...

Am I missing it or is there no shortcut to open a list of all notebooks and search in it? I understand I can go to specific notes very easily with CMD + P (on a Mac), but I fail to find a shortcut that allows me to switch to a notebook.
I end up renaming my first note in every notebook almost the same as the notebook itself just to work around this restriction. :frowning:

Just use a @ as the first character in the search box.

Explanation: If you click on the little question mark, you will see the following text:

Type a note title or part of its content to jump to it. Or type # followed by a tag name, or @ followed by a notebook name. Or type : to search for commands.

But Ctrl+Alt+T is typically the shortcut to open the terminal on Linux! Perhaps considering an alternative key combination could be worthwhile for a smoother experience.

The problem is that many shortcuts are taken/used by some operating system and/or desktop environment. This makes it basically impossible to assign any shortcuts - ever.

But you can change the shortcuts via the shortcut editor in Joplin. So, if you don't like Ctrl+Alt+T you can change it to something else.
