What issue do you have?

Upon restarting the application, I find notes that I hand wrote have these weird red dots inserted in words in random places (see screenshot). I had it set to rich editor only before exiting, and when switching back found it like this. Anyone had this?

It's fairly easy to fix with find and replace (CTRL+F) by copying one of thse symbols and removing all of them. But it's annoying.

This is very strange. Could you export one example as a JEX file so that we can check?

And do you have any plugin?

I cant now as I have already fixed it for that note (we're using the documentation actively), but next time it happens I can.

Here's the plugins Im using:

One thing to try might be (temporarily) disabling plugins that change how notes render — it's possible that one or more of them conflicts with the Rich Text Editor. I think this includes:

  • Typograms
  • Spoilers
  • Paginator?
  • Embedded notes?
  • GitHub Alerts
  • Draw.io
  • Code-clipboard

You say that the note was hand written but did that include pasting this text in? I ask as the below thread mentions the CodeMirror (Markdown) editor using red dots to indicate non-printing characters, like zero-width spaces and things like that.

To identify the special character, you can try opening the note in an external text editor and see what it shows in plaintext.

If it's some kind of invisible character, you can try using this site to identify exactly what the character is: What Unicode character is this ? (I use this at work to identify troublesome invisible unicode control characters)

That's a simple site for identifying invisible characters. Now bookmarked!

From looking at the screenshot again it appears that the dots could be marking syllables. The adding of invisible markers after syllables can be used in some documents / web pages for assisting screen reader software.
