Portable wont work (no admin rights)

What issue do you have?

When starting Portable-Version then nothing happens.
Just a short time an hourglass is shown.
I use a link for my Portable with the following parameters: C:\Dev\Joplin\JoplinPortable.exe --profile C:\DEV\Joplin\Joplin-Data

I'm a bit limited on the system, because I have no admin-rights.

What can I do?

  1. Which directories are affected for Portable-Version of Joplin?
  2. Is there a way to find out what is going wrong? - How to write a log?
  3. In general: I assumed a Portable-Version doesn't affect other directories. - Am i going wrong?

What happens if you just run it without the --profile switch? Also, why use the --profile switch at all if the profile folder is located in the same path as the executable?

It needs to access your user temp folder to unpack the files (check your %TEMP% variable for the exact path). It also places some Electron-related temporary files inside your %USERPROFILE% folder as well.

Sorry for the delay of my remarks. Meanwhile I installed the full version.
This works for me whithour admin-rights.
I have installed it under

  • C:\Dev\Joplin_Full
