Sorry, this maybe a newbie question. I have been using Dropbox on my Windows/10 system for years and sync files with a Samsun Android mobile phone. I recently installed Joplin on my mobile and selected the Synchronise option with Dropbox, and went through the setup process with no apparent errors. It created a new folder structure in Dropbox named Apps/Joplin which I can see on both Computer and mobile. I copied a file named Syntax.md into that folder on my computer and can see it in Dropbox on my mobile, but I cannot see it in the Joplin app on the mobile. I can see that it Sychronised within the last few seconds, but I don't know how to get Joplin to navigate to the Syntax.md file in Apps/Joplin.
Do not modify the Dropbox folder directly, as doing as you described will not work, and if you’re not careful, you can break the sync and lose data in Joplin. You should only create / modify notes within the Joplin apps
I don’t have the Joplin app on my computer, I created my Syntax.md file using Obsidian and just copied it to the App/Joplin folder on my computer. Are you saying I have to install Joplin on my computer as well as the mobile for synchronisation via Dropbox to work?
Joplin doesn't work like that. You can only work on your notes via the Joplin application. The MD files are only there for synchronisation and absolutely must not be edited manually.
For the record, there is an option to open a note and edit its Markdown code in another editor, but you still need to send it there from within the Joplin application.
OK, I installed Joplin on my computer as well and managed to change one of the Welcome notes and see the changes on my mobile. Thanks - that works OK and I will play with Joplin for a while. However, this is not what I was hoping for. I use Obsidian and other apps to create .md files and was hoping to view them on my mobile via Dropbox.
