My Joplin installation only opens every other time I start it

Operating system

Linux

Joplin version

3.4.12

Desktop version info

Joplin 3.4.12 (prod, linux)

What issue do you have?

I use Joplin on Endeavour OS (Arch) with Plasma Wayland. The installed version runs as an AppImage.

OS: EndeavourOS Linux x86_64
Host: Latitude E5270
Kernel: 6.18.3-arch1-1
DE: Plasma 6.5.4
WM: kwin

Joplin is configured to minimise to the system tray (even when clicking on the close icon).
When I start Joplin for the first time in a session, the icon is displayed in the taskbar. However, when I click on the icon, the programme is not displayed. The context menu in the tray icon gives me the choice between ‘Open’ and “Exit”. However, clicking on ‘Open’ does not open the programme either. If I exit Joplin via the context menu and start it, the icon is displayed in the tray and the Joplin window (as it is set) is also displayed. I can use Joplin normally.
If I minimise Joplin to the system tray, the programme window can also be displayed normally again with a simple click or using the context menu.
If I exit Joplin and restart it, the programme window does not open again. The process starts all over again. Only when I exit Joplin and restart it does it behave normally.

What could be the reason for this? How can I possibly fix it?

I have now deleted the AppImage 3.4.12 installation and installed jplon-bin 3.5.6 (the AUR version from the Debian package). The error no longer occurs. So it seems to be due to AppImage or the older version. I can live with the DEB version, so the problem no longer exists for me. Nevertheless, I (and perhaps others) would be interested to know the reason for this behaviour.

I’d take a wild guess and say that probably an electron update in the 3.5 series fixes the issue. I’ve been using the 3.4.12 appimage but don’t minimize the app.

3.5.6 is a release candidate. You’ll see elsewhere on this forum that the latest candidate is 3.5.10. Thus, you may have odd weird problems.
