More checkbox types

It would be nice to have some more checkbox types.

Is there a Markdown support for that and can you explain the difference between checked and crossed?

The idea behind ‘checked’ and ‘crossed’ is to have tri-state checkboxes, where there is ‘yes’ (checked), ‘no’ (crossed), and ‘not (yet) filled in’ (blank).

I borrowed the checkbox extension from the Zim program (http://www.zim-wiki.org), where we use ‘*’ (checked), ‘x’ (crossed) and ‘>’ (postponed). Since Joplin already uses ‘X’ for checked, I’d suggest to use ‘-’ for crossed (minus also has a negative feel).

I really like this idea.

I like this idea too. Personally I would love that clicking on a checkbox would cycle between three states: not started (unchecked), partially completed (in progress) and completed (checked).

[ ] => [-] => [x]

Exactly what I have been looking for (and not found yet).

It’s not what you asked for, but if you did want to track the status of your tasks more granularly than just done / not done, you could use the YesYouKan plugin by Laurent Joplin Plugins - YesYouKan

I can’t find a way to create a new Kanban board on mobile (but you could just retain a template to make copies from), but other than that the mobile support seems to be good too
