Joplin 1.7.11 (prod, win32)

Keychain Supported: Yes

I made a link (using sharing, WIndows 10) to a file on my PC that I pasted to a note. I want to use it as a hyperlink to launch the file so that I don't have to store the whole file in Joplin. I can't make it launch. Is this supported? (I tried it successfully using LibreOffice Writer)
@Markku welcome to the forum
If you want to link to a file but not store it in Joplin use:
<file:///c:\path\to\file\document.odt>
or
[a document](file:///c:\path\to\file\document.odt)
Of course, unless the target file exists in the exact same path on any other machine with Joplin on it, the link will not work.
The reference to "using sharing, WIndows 10" has got me a bit as I am mostly using Linux now. So apologies if I have missed something vital.

Very Nice, thanks. This works fine, and a lot simpler than using the sharing wizard in WIndows 10.
This makes Joplin more useful for me.
You can also drag and drop the file into Joplin while holding the Alt key.
This will create a file reference without importing the file into Joplin.

Thanks again, for an even faster tip. No need for any typing at all.
