Joplin Web Clipper stopped working in Brave Browser

Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Brave v 1.26.67.
I have had Joplin Web Clipper extension loaded in the Brave browser for at least a year working fine.
Today Clipper decided to quit working.
When I click the Joplin Clipper icon in Brave I get this message:
Permission Needed
Starting...
then nothing.

I tried the Alt + Shift + J and get this:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Clipper extension with no luck.

Can you provide the version of the webclipper that you're using? And the Joplin version? It looks like one of them is out of date and needs to be updated.

Joplin 1.6.8 (prod, win32)
Revision: fc7bd41c1 (master)

Joplin web clipper Version 2.1.2

this now is happening on my two desktop computers.

The new web clipper has been introduced to work with the new clipper service security in Joplin v2.1.7. You therefore need to be running Joplin v2.1.7. I guess that Brave has automatically updated the extension.

After installing, trigger the clipper again to get the "Permission" message, then open Joplin and select "Grant Authorisation".

Installed the 2.1.7 version of Joplin, had to trigger the clipper with Alt+Shift+J, granted permissions. Works now!
I had to re-pin the extension icon to the menu bar in Brave.

thanks for the help.
