What issue do you have?

I have updated Joplin to version 3.6.11 on my Windows PC.
The memory consumption has increased dramatically compared with the old version.
Previous version: memory usage approximately 400-500 MB
Current version 3.6.11: memory usage stays at about 1 GB all the time, with no obvious drop after startup.
Could you please check this abnormal memory usage problem? Thank you.

I'm not noticing any difference on my computer (about 350 MB). Do you have any plugin?

You can see the current memory usage is extremely high, it has reached 2GB.

Every time I close Joplin and then reopen it.

When Joplin runs in the background, the memory footprint is low. But as soon as l switch it to the foreground, its memory usage jumps directly from 500 MB up to 2 GB.

After a while, it suddenly drops back down to 500 MB again. This feels like a memory leak, but I have no idea what is causing this issue.

And you don't have any plugin?

Here are a few things to try:

Right, OCR now works for Chinese language, maybe that's what is happening. If it is, note that it's a one off - once your documents have been processed they won't be again

You're correct. Once I disabled OCR, the memory no longer surged at all.

after upgrading to 3.6.11 on windows and android all my notes are in one folder. All 515 of them. All in one folder.

It's really not worth the time. I'm done with joplin.

that's why we do backups

but anyway, the ver 3.6.11 feels to be vibe coded a lot, so many breaking parts were introduced

It's mostly due to GSoC I'd say, and my fault for letting the project be overwhelmed with poor quality PRs, some of which ended up being merged (most were then reverted). If we ever do GSoC again we will need to seriously restrict who's allowed to participate

Either invest in full-time mentors for participants that really make sure the participants push high-quality code, and have them on your payroll, maybe as seasonal contractors, or restrict who participates.

Or write integration tests for everything, but that would be Facebook tier I suppose, practically infeasible in any non-FAANG company.

None of this would help but thanks

The more restrictive the updates, the better. Joplin is a jewel of productivity, and I deeply respect the foundational work that’s been done. Careful consideration when introducing new features and tweaks is paramount. The plugin architecture already allows for most of that.

If the core app adds no new features over the next 10 years and continues to perform this reliably, I won’t complain. Evernote keeps adding new features every week. That’s what many of us ran from.

Just my two cents. Respectfully and thanks.
