Joplin upgrade error

Operating system

Linux

Joplin version

2.13.2

Sync target

Nextcloud

What issue do you have?

The Software wanted to run some update and asked me to restart the application to do that. When I did so I got the following errormessage:
(I had to specify a Joplin version above but cannot really, the help menu is empty by now, I seem to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. Please assist!)

Joplin upgrade in progress...
Please wait while the sync target is being upgraded. It may take a few seconds or a few minutes depending on the upgrade. The application will automatically restart once it is completed.

Error
The sync target could not be upgraded due to an error. For support, please copy the complete content of this page and paste it in the forum: https://discourse.joplinapp.org/

The full error was:

Hi;

Could you expand on what you mean by the help menu is unavailable?

Revision 154 is version 3.6.16; this release had some changes to the sync logic that would correlate with what you're seeing, I'll let the experts on that chime in.

It's worth pointing out though as an option, you could run sudo snap revert joplin-desktop and this will downgrade both the application version as well as roll back the local databases (settings, schema, and note content) to before the upgrade happened.

Where this might not be ideal is that potentially the remote server is now on a higher sync version being mid-way through an upgrade, which makes me cautious in recommending this as you might need to reset the server end and re-upload the local copy fresh which I'd rather not recommend just now.

Tagging @personalizedrefriger who might be interested in seeing this.

FWIW, there's a high chance that the NextCloud server isn't operating ideally; is it possible you're running into usage limits? Who's the NextCloud host? If it's self hosted, is there anything in the NextCloud logs that might suggest resource limits or other errors?

Looks like it's a error HTTP 500 so probably a Nextcloud configuration issue?

Dear supporters,

I was able to solve the issue. The problem was that my Nextcloud quota had been running full (without notifying) due to some unwanted autoupload of images from my phone that suddenly kicked in after an update of the Nextcloud Andoid client. The quota exceedence caused write access to unexpectedly vanish. This caused the error. Once I cleared some space on the drive, everything worked as it should.

Regarding the issue with inaccessible help: When the problem occurred initially, the error message that I replicated in my original issue was displayed in the entire inner frame of Joplin. I could not see any notebooks or other stuff, just the top menu and this message. When clicking on the help menu at the top (to find out my Joplin version), the menu was not populated. An empty white Menu frame expanded on dropdown (wich should have contained the menu items) but it did not contain anything.

For completeness, here is my current Joplin version:
