I'm pretty sure I put the token in the settings correctly. Am I doing something wrong? Both Firefox and Chrome display that error.
I tried Google in Chrome and it didn't work. However I actually found that when I disabled the adblocker (ublock origin) in Chrome it works! For some reason it's getting blocked even though it's not an ad. Is there a fix for this? Unfortunately, if the choice is between this extension and adblocking, the latter is higher priority.
Disabling the adblocker in firefox didn't fix the issue so not sure what is going on there.

Oh, please replace the * on the url with your token.

That's weird, I also use ublock origin and don't have this problem. Can you backup your ublock origin settings and send it to me? Maybe you have some configuration that blocks requests to the local, I want to try to reproduce it.
I figured out what the issue is with the adblocker. The "Block Outsider Intrusion into LAN" filter list is what is blocking it. Do you happen to know how to add this to the whitelist so that it doesn't get blocked? Is it http://127.0.0.1:41184? I haven't been able to figure out how to add an exception.
So I figured out what that issue was and at least by disabling that filterlist I can see that the extension works in Chrome and displays the Joplin notes. However, it still doesn't work in Firefox. I've tried Firefox both on my Linux and Windows machine and it doesn't work. Not sure what is going on there.
I added my token and it displays references to matching notes in both Firefox and Chrome. So I guess it's something about my Firefox configurations?
Ok so adding @@||127.0.0.1:41184^$3p to Ublock origin under "My Filters" allows the extension to not be blocked by the "Block Outsider Intrusion into LAN" filter list.
Edit:
@rxliuli I figured out what the remaining issue with Firefox is. Sometimes the url is different when searching and your extension doesn't recognize it when searching on DDG. Google seems to work ok.
e.g. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab=&q=pineapple&ia=web doesn't work but https://duckduckgo.com/?q=pineapple&t=ffab=&ia=web does. I don't know why sometimes when searching in Firefox the url ends up being one or the other.

Thank you very much for your investigation and answer, this question will be logged in the FAQ.

Since I use glob to match url, it will not match when q is not the first parameter, this error will be fixed in the next version
Hi
Only to mention that the newest Firefox version 0.2.6 does not show the Joplin title note.
On the other hand an excellent add-on more useful than I thought at the beginning.
Hi
I have found if you selected a note from the browser and this note has an internal Joplin link, the link sends you directly to the add-on set up, instead of sending to the note.
It is not important because, you can go to the Joplin note first, and then click the link into the note in Joplin app, but, if it is possible to fix, better.
Mostly this is just a report. Vivaldi Browser works perfectly using DDG as the search engine from the address bar using a shortcut. So, ;du (my shortcut for duckduckgo), gives me joplin and web results.
I didn't understand that the token was an authorization and needed to come from Joplin. Spent time figuring out what it was and then figuring out and failing how to get the joplin web clipper to authorize its use. I even looked in the browser for the web clipper place to give me the token. Joplin was my 3rd choice to get the token. I'm sure this demonstrates my lack of basic grounding, but I'm also pretty sure some others are a ignorant as I and another sentence in the FAQ would save us less literate some time.
Request: You.com search engine. This has become my favorite. Like a colorful DDG but also has an excellent chatbot which fields most of my search requests. It also has features of Searx in that it can be configured for sources.
