I received an email saying my annual subscription to Joplin Cloud would renew soon.
My credit card expired this year and was replaced, so I logged in to add the new card as payment method.
I tried several times with two different browsers, unsuccessfully : the page ends up displaying "Your card doesn’t support this type of purchase."
I checked the stripe support page for this specific error. Causes are :
Using a debit card (mine is a credit card)
Geographic restrictions (none set)
HSA/FSA card type (no)
I should mention that I have no issue with recurring payments for other services with the same card.
Any idea why this is happening, and what to do about it ?
I could try and wait for the actual expiration date of my joplin cloud subscription then try a manual payment, but I see no reason why this should change anything.
A quick update :
My Joplin cloud subscription lapsed and I am now well into the 14 days grace period.
My numerous attempts to pay all failed, with two different cards in two different browsers and all SCA challenges successfully met with different means.
Beyond a useless AI chatbot, Stripe support is non-existent: I have yet to receive an answer to my email, and I’m not even their customer so I suspect I won’t receive one.
Card issuer sees no problem, and the cards themselves have no relevant restrictions.
At this point, I give up: too much time and energy wasted without the slightest hint of progress and no end in sight.
It looks like my case is isolated and I do understand that it does not make sense for you to look into it - and the problem may still be on my end - so I am not complaining, but still, this is an unfortunate situation.
