Hello support,
I've just installed (1.4.19) via the script
wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/laurent22/joplin/dev/Joplin_install_and_update.sh | bash
I see .joplin folder and Joplin.AppImage inside.
When I want to start Joplin by the menu or by double click on Joplin.AppImage nothing append !
Might I suggest chmod +x Joplin.AppImage
?
Merry, installed MX linux, funny little distro.
Downloaded Joplin with your command and executed it via file browser. Everything runs normal.
Did you apt update && apt upgrade -y
?

Can you try:
Click on MX "starter" at the bottom left side.
Type Joplin and the right click on the Joplin icon. Select "Edit application" (I think, I don't use English MX).
Edit the "command" by adding --no-sandbox like this example :
/home/user/.joplin/Joplin.AppImage --no-sandbox
After saving, try to start Joplin using that icon.

Good you got it sorted, kastor.
I am just another happy Joplin user and i learned the --no-sandbox trick from another message thread here.
By the way, now I use MX-19.3 ahs ("Advance Hardware Support edition") and for some reason there we do not have to use --no-sandbox anymore. Joplin runs fine out of the box on 19.3 ahs.

Hi kastor
As you see below my 19.3 ahs version use a much newer kernel. I was adviced to switch to the ahs version to get my USB-C monitor to work with MX Linux. The ahs version has better support for newer hardware.
Now we are straying away from the subject of Joplin....
System: Host: <filter> Kernel: 5.8.0-3-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A
