I have a question about the "Note History" feature.

Operating system

Windows

Joplin version

3.2.13

What issue do you have?

While using Joplin, I noticed that it includes a "Note History" function, but it only backs up history on a daily basis—for example, restoring the content from the 1st, the 2nd, the 3rd, and so on. So, how can I adjust the settings to back up every single modification instead of just the daily changes? For instance, if I made a change on the 1st at 5:30 PM, another at 8:10 PM, and then one more at 11:51 PM, how can I ensure that all these edits are saved in the "Note History"?

Note history and note backup are two different features. Backup is done daily but history captures every change to the note and keeps these changes for however long you have set in Options-Note History.

The little circle at the top right of the window calls up the info about the note and in there is a clickable link to the history.

I’m still not quite sure how “Note History” works. Could you explain in detail under what specific conditions a “Note History” record gets added? For example, does it add a “Note History” record every time I reopen the software? Or does it add a “Note History” record every time I finish editing something? Or does it add a “Note History” record every time I close the software? Or maybe it adds a “Note History” record every time I sync something?

Because when I performed the following actions, "Note History" didn’t add any new records:

  1. After editing a note.
  2. After editing a note and completing a sync.
  3. After editing a note, closing the software, and reopening it.
  4. After editing a note, completing a sync, closing the software, and reopening it.

In all four of these attempts, no new "Note History" records were added.

I’d like to know the specific conditions under which a “Note History” record is added. Can you explain it to me in detail?

It's actually documented here:
