I'm trying to find a way to create all my labels in one time (as I used to do with Evernote). But I don't know how to do, because when I delete a note associated to a specific Label, the later is automatically destroyed because it is linked to this unique deleted note.
Why can not I access my labels, even though they are not assigned to any notes?
How many labels ?
Is it a problem for you to have one note empty and to link it with all labels ?
But with too much labels, not sure of the delay and the number of labels allowed...
when I'm using forms on applications or websites, where I have a lot of entries to capture, and a database in the backend, I don't imagine having to create all my main themes/labels one at a time...
I love to create all them, so my general themes/labels are always avalaible in my dropdown, and so I can capture my data very quickly (as my Labels are always there).
If I have one main theme (like House, or Hollidays) for which I'm sure they will be always useful. It doesn't seem logical to me at all, that these themes should be deleted on the pretext that I deleted some notes. (because maybe in the next days, I will have a new House note to come later)
I'm creating a Joplin account for my wife. I want her to be able to use Joplin with ease.
And since I know exactly which themes/labels she'll need, it makes sense to create them all from the start.
If one day, my wife deletes a note used by a Label which contains only that note, she will never undestand why this Label has disappeared, this is not logical for a non-computer scientist
I think this would also involve adding a new pop-up that will appear every time you delete a note that has a tag. I don't know if a "note count" is part of the data kept for each tag but either this would need to be added to Joplin (and maintained) or a search would be required to see if the tag is used more than once. You would have to tell it whether or not to delete the tag as well. I don't like orphaned attachments cluttering up my data and while tags don't take up disk space, they do require processing time to apply and remove and anything that slows Joplin down must be implemented with caution.
I like Steph's one note (pun intended) solution much more than adding another pop-up to bother me when I delete a note.
Why do you mention a popup when deleteing a note ?
When you delete the note, it is deleted as it, and if some Labels remain unused, they will stay there (in the Label DB table) until you probably use them again later (and the good point, you won't have to recreat them again).
And if you don't like them you can delete them anytime you want
Sorry, it is the first time I see a primary/foreign key dealed such this way
