How Joplin retrieves web pages via WebClipper

Just a curiosity.
I noticed that, when I save a webpage with WebClipper, WebClipper sends only text to Joplin while Joplin itself downloads images. Is it true? Why doen’t WebClipper do all the work?
Thanks

Browser extensions are limited in what they can do, for example they can’t create files or access the Joplin local database. So the clipper extension just grabs the HTML and sends it to the desktop app for processing. It will take care of converting it to Markdown, download and save the images, and create the note.
