Flatpak legitimacy

Is this flatpak from a developer linked to the joplin project/can it be trusted?
The website says the best way to install is through a script, but that means manual updates, and also isn't really the way things are done in linux.
Am I ok using the flatpak here, as it comes up in the pop-os store?

It's released by a third party, so basically outside of the Joplin project, however if you search for "flatpak" on the forum, you should find many threads and people using it.

Is there a reason why there's no official flatpak?
Lots of people using it probably doesn't equate to legitimacy. It's just a much more convenient way to do it.. I'd definitely trust something legit more.

Probably just the effort to make it every time there's a build. That's a guess.

I do believe user submitted flatpaks to flathub are reviewed by others on the project. It's said to be a bit more robust than some other distros that have user content/packages available.
