Feature request: thick cursor after overwrite (insert key)

I would like a cursor to change to a thick one when I use Insert key on the keyboard (I switch to the overwrite mode). The cursor doesn't change now, although overwrite mode works.

It kind of works in the Rich Text Editor, but you have to move the cursor to another letter for it to update the cursor showing type. It doesn't work in the codemirror editor at all.

I want the feature to work in both Rich Text and codemirror editors.
