Error message "Invalid property format": how to localise the issue?

Hello all,

first of all, thanks for working on Joplin and for your support to improve it on a regular basis.
I switched form MS oneNote to Joplin a year now and I am very happy with what Joplin provides.

For a while ago, I keep getting an error during synchronization, not knowing how I can track the origin or location of the problem.
Apparently, there is some format in my notes that creates issues.

It says in the log panel:

Completed: 07/07/2020 12:27
Last error: Error: Invalid property format:

It is followed by a lot of square boxes, which makes me think that I may have copied something into a joplin note with a format that isn’t supported in Joplin. Just an assumption, though.

I use Joplin under Windows 10:

Joplin 1.0.224 (prod, win32)

Client ID: 76d6aa6281454a3183d3198e1709459b
Sync Version: 1
Profile Version: 30
Keychain Supported: Yes

Revision: 1899d866 (master)

Does anybody have an idea how to proceed in best ways in order to localise the origin of the issue in the notebooks apart from removing them manually and checking via that way?

Any idea and suggestion is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Pierre

It means one of your sync item on the sync target is corrupted. Is there any additional information in the log? https://joplinapp.org/debugging

You’d want to find the item ID in particular so that you can fix it or delete it from the sync target.

Hello Laurent,
thank you very much for your help.
Indeed, the entries in the log.txt file located under c:\Users\YOUR_NAME.config\joplin-desktop contained the item IDs that created the problems. I removed them from the sync folders and now it works again.

Thanks and best regards,
Pierre

I discovered that when I exported all data to a JEX file, then imported that file into a new installation of JoplinPortable on a new device, those error messages went away, and I did not have to delete any files.
