Error "Cannot copy [path] to a subdirectory of itself" when trying to create backup

Operating system

Windows

Joplin version

3.6.15

Desktop version info

Joplin 3.6.15 (prod, win32)
Backup: 1.5.1

What issue do you have?

The error is triggered by performing the following actions in Joplin Portable:

  1. Open the "Extra" menu and click on "Create backup".

The following error pop-up message then immediately appears:

Backup plugin
Error on file/folder copy in backupFolder: Cannot copy
'K:\joplin\app\JoplinProfile\plugins' to a subdirectory of itself,
'K:\joplin\backup\JoplinBackup\joplin_active_backup_job\profile\plugins'.

I am currently still unsure whether the cause of this error could be attributed to user operation mistake from my side, a bug in Joplin or a bug in the built-in backup plugin.

Note 1

I previously got a quite similar error message when I tried to perform an installation of the Zotero Link plugin in Joplin for which the cause is also still unclear to me right now (see issue report below).

Note 2

It would seem that this issue is specific to Joplin Portable. Because when I use the Joplin installer to perform a full installation of Joplin on the same machine, then in that Joplin installation the same issue does not occur. I have specific reasons for wanting to use Joplin Portable for my regular use though.
