Custom CSS Problems with Portable App

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro x64 22H2 Build 19045.2965
Joplin Version: 2.10.18 (Portable)

In the Joplinapp help (Sorry, I can't post a link, the forum won't let me) it states:

Rendered markdown can be customized by placing a userstyle file in the profile directory ~/.config/joplin-desktop/userstyle.css

I cannot find my config directory. I have a feeling this has to do with the fact I have a portable installation. I have searched my entire HD for "joplin-desktop" with no results. I've looked in my home directory, and I do have a ".config" directory, there is nothing Joplin related inside of it.

So my question is: Where do I create this userstyle.css file?

I'd really like to add some additional refinements to the markdown styling in the application.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Open Joplin.
  2. Go to Tools > Options > Appearance
  3. Click Show Advanced Settings

Then, you will see two options:

  • Custom stylesheet for rendered Markdown - It will open the userstyle.css
  • Custom stylesheet for Joplin-wide app styles - It will open the userchrome.css

You can just save and close the file after you finish, then quit and restart Joplin. You will see your CSS works.

Help > Open Profile Directory will show your profile. On the portable app it is created in the same dir the executable (as you can see in the post above this).

Thanks all! I actually switched to the non-portable version of the application and have solved my problem and started editing userstyle.css.

Really appreciate all of the swift responses.
