After updating to 3.0.15 from 2.14.22, upon launch, the whole app turns white, and hangs. After a while, I receive a dialog box that is as below. Restarting in safemode works, but I have no idea why it won't launch. I tried overwriting with my previous 2.14.22, but it gave me a critical error because 3.0.15 updated things, and the error message told me to update to the new version that began this whole situation.
Everything was working fine until I updated. Please fix this.
Hi
I've had the same problem for several versions of 3.x
I also regularly lose the favourites layout, which reappears in the 4th column
Attached crash file and images

I have no plugins at all, as I don’t even know what that means. I am simply using the default or stock app with no modifications, apart from the updates that the app notifies me are available to download and install.
I am not near my MacBook Pro, but next time get on it, I will post that screenshot you request.
My iOS version of joplin still allows me to work via my iPhone and iPad Pro. Just the MacOS is screwed.
@Herve, @Love, if it happens again would you mind opening the macOS Console then go to "Crash log" in the sidebar, and see if there's any entry related to Joplin? If there is please could you share the log?
I will fire it up later this evening and try to access the log, but I don’t see how if I can’t load the main program, and only in safe mode.
I’m going to uninstall, and reinstall from a fresh download, onto my Mac, and see if it was just a random update glitch. If it still crashes the same, then I am at a loss.
This problem continues after deleting the app and associations, and reinstalling from supposed scratch.
After deleting the app and restarting the computer from total shut down, I redownloaded the app from the joplin website, reinstalled the app. To my total surprise, after relaunching it, it opened up exactly the same way. White background, hangs for a bit, and the promp to restart in safemode or ignore showed up again.
How is it, that upon deletion, it didn't actually delete anything!?
Restarting in safemode, I went to settings, and it was all still there... my sync settings, a list of all the devices I have authorized, everything...
To the creators of Joplin, you really need to actually DELETE everything, when a person elects to delete the app from their computer. How is a person expected to try and restart to fix problems like this, if whatever corrupted the app to begin with, is allowed to persist behind the scenes, in folders and files, that they cannot even know the locations of, to wipe everything clean and start fresh!?
I appreciate the link, and after disabling automatic backups, it didn’t solve the issue.
I still don’t understand why iPad and iPhone apps are fine, yet whatever this update did on MacOS, broke it.
I also don’t understand why all the setup data persists on my mac after deleting the app and restarting. This is like formatting your drive, reinstalling windows or macos, only to see all your files, login details, and everything else pre-format, still there.
Everything needs to be deleted and removed, so one can reinstall and start fresh as a troubleshooting step, such as I would like to do, but can’t because everything persists despite deleting the app and restarting the computer.
