So for reference, the school I'm at is abandoning oneNote by and large because of the many issues Microsoft has decided to bring into both its operating system and OneNote itself, through enshittification, over-pushing AI, and more. The application itself is becoming too much for some older machines to handle, OneNote's sync ability is failing and making peoples' notes to disappear, the list goes on.
(Before you mention goodnotes with their classroom integration, they tried that, someone's notes vanished out of thin air, and everyone quickly soured on them - not to mention the costs. Not an option)
As such, after testing around, we're considering settling on Joplin.
The big problem is that some teachers really love that "class notebook" feature, and as far as I can tell, I don't think Joplin has something like that. That said, a few features that I thought Joplin did not have, turned out to just be a little bit hidden.
I figured out how to make a plugin to create several sub-folders at once for a given notebook, so that part is kind of solved, but I've since learned that only the main folder can be shared, and it seems that sub-notebooks themselves cannot, and the teachers wouldn't want to be giving their entire class edit privileges on everyones' notes.
So What I'm asking is:
Is there a viable way in Joplin to setup a multi-folder structure wherein team members have limited(view) access to a broader shared Notebook, and edit access for their own sub-folder, and teacher/teamleads have full access to the main folder and subfolders, as well as edit access to the relevant student folders for that class?
This is mostly relevant for checking notes, doing class activities, etc.

I hope this request makes sense and that someone can help out with this, because I'd love to be able to recommend Joplin to them generally, rather than with such large caveats around permission structures.
