Hello all,
I need to translate a note that contains lots of text and images.
I can't translate the whole note because the text contains links that I would like to retain.
Is there a plugin that can help tranalate selected text?
TIA
tony
You could try to use Jarvis (AI assistant) to translate your note.
It's a good idea, but I don't have a chatgpt account yet.

I just used this workaround:
- converted the MD to HTML using an online service
- uploaded the html/images on my personal webspace
- translated the html using google translate (URL translate)
- copied the result to Joplin note (the images are retained)
A bit tricky, but it worked for me.

Glad that you found a workaround.
Anyway, if you do want to try Jarvis at some point, you could try to run an offline model (no account necessary, and it isn't too hard to setup), or use a free service (I think that groq has a free tier, and so does ovh, as users wrote me about these services recently - I do not use these services personally and cannot attest to their quality).
The simplest method is to hand it over to LLM for translation and ask it to retain the original Markdown format and link addresses. For example, ChatGPT/Claude/Grok/Deppseek...
Personally I use the free app from Deepl.com, this let me select a text CtrlC-CtrlC and paste back translation in any language I have chosen. Translations are much more human than translate.google.com which makes really funny translations most of the time.
I second the above replies. Hand it over to LLM
You may want to use the plugin ToWebSearchEngine with "DeepL Translate: The world's most accurate translator" as SearchEngineURI
