[title] user input section currently is considered probably redundant or useless

The title input field on top of the note/todo section.

Most of note app/website I’ve used don’t provide such a input field. And I see no much benefit from it.

Actually, it’s a little confusing. In the new note, the title changes automatically with the first line of user input. In the old note, the title doesn’t do so.

It may also cause redundant title line when sync with other note app/website.

It’s probably just OK to:

  1. Store the first line as title inside Joplin
  2. Show partial title on the left title pane as most other websites/apps do
  3. With or without some considerate variations

Happened to notice that it’s not just me who is unsatisfied with the title input: [feature removal request] note titles, welcome screen, multi option create note button, save button (for new notes)

For me I think this works excellent as it does today. There may be many cases where a user does not want the first line of the content to be displayed in the note list as the note title. SimpleNote works the way you describe and I think that makes it a little more unflexible.

In the new note, the title changes automatically with the first line of user input. In the old note, the title doesn’t do so.

That only happens if you start typing at the first line of the actual empty note. If you start the empty note by typing anything in the title field, it does not change when typing in the first line of the note text.

Seems perfectly logical to me
