One machine refuses to sync

Hi! I love Joplin so far, but I have a real dealbreaker problem that’s driving me crazy.
I’m using Joplin on 4 windows machines and an android phone (so far). All three windows desktops work fine, as does the phone. But the laptop won’t sync.

I’m using dropbox to sync. On the laptop, it worked for some short period, and since then, it SAYS it has synced correctly, but it shows the exact same 7 notes it had when it last synced correctly. I now have 400+ notes on the other machines. When I look in dropbox on the laptop, it shows hundreds of files, so I assume it’s all there. I have tried:

  • uninstalling and reinstalling
  • uninstall, reboot, reinstall
  • change to onedrive sync, sync, change back to dropbox.

Any suggestions on what I should try next? Thanks!

Dropbox limted the access to 3 machines, unless you have a paid account.

On one of the machines that works correctly, it shows:

I'm a bit puzzled by this output. A debug log is the log.txt file and the console output of Joplin:

  • Add a file named "flags.txt" in the config directory (should be ~/.config/joplin-desktop or c:\Users\YOUR_NAME\.config\joplin-desktop ) with the following content: --open-dev-tools --log-level debug
  • Restart the application
  • The development tools should now be opened. Click the "Console" tab
  • Now repeat the action that was causing problem. The console might output warnings or errors - please add them to the GitHub issue. Also open log.txt in the config folder and if there is any error or warning, please also add them to the issue.

OK, sorry. The Synchronization Status page on the WIndows app has a “debug report” link, which is what I gave you. I’ll follow the steps you posted

The console does not have any output when I click “synchronize”.

Appears to be fixed. This time I uninstalled, then deleted the .config/joplin-desktop folder, then reinstalled. Now it appears to be syncing all the notes. Still working but looks good.
