One Day with Joplin - Fatal Error

Operating system

Windows

Joplin version

3.3.2

What issue do you have?

Portable Version. New to Joplin
Downloaded yesterday - spent 5 hours with Joplin - liked it, easy to use and intuitive.
Went to bed very pleased and looking forward to coming out of OneNote.

This morning Fatal Error. Running safe mode did nothing.

Screenshot and log attached.

Is there anything I can do??
What have I done that has caused the issue??

many thanks

Just to be safe, can you check your disk's SMART data (e.g. with a program like CrystalDiskInfo)? You can post a screenshot of the result here.

Yes first

thing I checked all ok

The drive looks fine on the surface, although I can see that it's a USB-connected device, and those aren't exactly known for their reliability. At this point, if you want to get Joplin back to running, I think that you will likely need to delete the old database and start from scratch.

You could also check if you've got backups in your profile folder (which should've been created automatically by the built-in backup plugin), and if yes, then you could restore your notes from the latest one.

Ok thanks for that I'll have go

Ok decided to take a different route.

Signed up for Joplin Cloud as it's a very reasonable price
Removed the portable version (simple delete off the ssd)
Downloaded the desktop version

Got the cloud bit going - fired up (new) Joplin version and guess what - all the data I keyed in on the first day (or most of) suddenly appeared!

ok that's magic! Seriously how did that come about??

One quick question - from the desk top Joplin application how can I tell if I'm synched up to the cloud.

Thanks

Update - No that's not the original data - which makes sense

It's some - just a few bits of OneNote - well where did that come from??
