What issue do you have?

Microsoft forced me to login again because they changed their TOS. After that, Joplin says "some items cannot be synchronized." That somehow fixed itself, but now the default profile notes appears in a separate profile I use for a specific writing project. And the notes that were in the writing profile are gone! I think. I can't find them. Any help appreciated.

If you’re using 2 profiles synced to different sync targets and one of them is OneDrive, what is your other profile syncing to?

Is it also OneDrive but using a different Microsoft account? I’m guessing you might have entered credentials for the wrong account when asked to sign in again?

I have one ms account. Just the one. Both profiles use it to one drive . Didn’t have problems until today.

2 profiles on one OneDrive account is not actually supported by Joplin. If you’ve got 2 folders with Joplin data on OneDrive, it’s actually caused by a bug in the OneDrive api, likely the same or related to this issue Sychronizing to OneDrive creates \Apps\Graph folder · Issue #11489 · laurent22/joplin · GitHub . It seems when you signed in again, it corrected the issue and is now just using 1 folder, and possible the folders were merged on the OneDrive side.

If you have all your notes from both profiles in 1 profile currently, do the following:

  1. Make a jex backup of all your notes in this profile
  2. Create a new profile, import the jex file and delete the notes you don’t want in that profile. Then set up sync to either a NEW OneDrive account, or a different sync target entirely
  3. In the original profile, delete all the notes which you retained in the other profile and sync the changes

It’s been working fine for over a week with sync going on regularly so I don’t know why it stopped. On OneDrive, I see two different profile sub-folders. I did find my writing notes in the combined profile so I didn’t lose anything, but I don’t want those notes in the other profile. I might need to look at other apps if I can’t use this approach.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Look into your Backup plugin which is exporting a JEX backup every night for each profile. Locate the path in the backup plugin settings. Can you find both JEX backups for both profiles?

You can have two profiles each synced to their own sync target. Just don't sync them to the same ms account. If you really want to use ms for both, sync to two different ms accounts.
