With due respect to the author, by "it breaks the renderer", I mean it does not disconnect the MarkdownIt module completely, it just displays a custom string — on the contrast to the rendering the content in the editor. Yet the module does load every time even though it's no longer functional. Well, to be fair, it might be not really possible via plugins, I'm not sure.

I see what you mean now, thanks for sharing! I guess this is disabling the entire viewer so we could expect it to speed up Joplin on nature of disabling all markdown rendering.
