I recently installed the Joplin mobile app on my phone, but whenever I try to open it, I get a black screen and nothing else loads.
I have tried force-closing the app, clearing the cache, and even reinstalling it, but the issue persists. It was working fine before, so Iam not sure what went wrong.
Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I have the same issue. It’s working fine on my iPhone and PC, but I just get a black screen on my iPad. I’m not sure what happened or how to troubleshoot it.
Update: after trying things like force closing the app and rebooting without improvement, I deleted the iOS app, rebooted my iPad, reinstalled the app, and synced my data. It is working for me now.
I ran into this for the first time this morning on my phone. It had never happened before. It didn't happen on my tablet. Then I got an idea, what if the problem is not with Joplin, but the beta implementation of using biometrics to login? So, I used my thumb on the reader, and then it asked for my finger and logged me in normally.
I've turned off biometrics to log in. It seems fine. In fact, when I open the app, it seems to show that grey screen for a second before it populates the screen.
I also ran into that bug before but forgot to report it (sorry, I can be a bit forgetful sometimes).
I use an app called X-Lock to add Fingerprint and Pin Locks to apps that don't Support it or don't Support it properly. X-Lock has a free version with ads and a one time purchase option to remove the ads (worth it). It's quite customizable and has a Hidden Vault feature as well (I don't use it though so I can't say how well it works).
Some Apps like the Walmart app don't always play nice (To be fair the Walmart app is a garbage fire anyways) but Joplin generally works ok with it so long as you close the app before locking the screen (otherwise you may be able to view but not edit some notes before it ask to unlock). Another benefit is that X-Lock gives the option of using a Pin or other methods which is great when I can't get my finger to read (usually due to being soaked with sweat and/or coolant from work) and really want to make a quick note about something before I forget.
