Importing multiple items

Trying to import MD files (new to Joplin, populating it) I find that only one file at a time can be selected in the import dialogue. Surely this is something not working properly?

I have hundreds of MD files!

Joplin 1.0.195 (prod, darwin)
Client ID: a7b2da594b7145e59d17a64fefb23de2
Sync Version: 1
Profile Version: 28
Revision: f4a562b (master)

MacOS 10.13.6

You should use File->Import->Markdown directory in this case. I haven’t used it myself, but I’m pretty sure thats what you want.

Yup, like a dream! Thank you @calebjohn.

Now, having dealt with the MD files, the next problem - how to import the many html files I’ve inherited from Evernote, currently living in DevonThink?

You could use pandoc to convert them to markdown

I began tediously to convert non-MD files in DevonThink to MD, in batches, using DevonThink’s tools. Then export them to a folder. And then import those files to Joplin. It was working, if slowly.

Then catastrophe. After importing a several hundred MD files into Joplin, suddenly, on viewing some of the imported files in the latest batch, Joplin crashed, leaving just a blank window and menu bar unresponsive. Closed Joplin and re-booted. No change.

So Joplin looks completely unusable now.

Is this a known bug? Is there a way to recover the files and working status of the app? A simple way - I’m no hacker.

Oops! Pardon me - while I wasn’t looking (I was posting here) rebooted Joplin has successfully reloaded the files and is now displaying correctly. Phew.

If you can replicate the blank window bug, try to open the console window first to see if there’s any error or warning. https://joplinapp.org/debugging

Thanks Laurent. But the console is out of my scope - I don't do command lines! Just a naive user
