This is not a request for nested tags. Rather, if I mainly use tags to navigate and have hundreds of tags, the flat display of tags becomes hard to follow. It would be extremely valuable to introduce some display structure to the tags, to group them under different user-defined areas, e,g, to group France, Italy under Countries, to group chicken, beef under Food. This way, I can collapse the other groups when I focus on certain topics. I believe this is easier to implement than nested tags, as it doesn’t touch the fundamental structure of the program. Anyone one else has this need? I saw an expired thread asking for the same thing.

Just a note: Nested tags are supported for inline tags, and therefore also grouping. I know it's not what you're asking for (these are not native Joplin tags), but if someone finds it really important, it's a way to get it.
