What issue do you have?

I use OneNote with external links to JoplinPortable. In use: I open the portable Joplin, then in OneNote, I click an external link to open the linked note in Joplin. This worked, at least a few months ago. Now the link opens a second instance of Joplin. I can't tell where this comes from. Joplin is not listed as installed. The help screen of this instance Shows:

Joplin 3.3.12 (prod, win32)
Device: win32, 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12800HX
Client ID: 95137470fe7d41dcb189b5555a1fd49a

Alternative instance ID: -

Freehand Drawing: 3.0.1

This instance has only starter notes

This differs from the Help screen of the portable version (above).

I tried using older versions of Joplin Portable. Findings: 3.3.2 works as I expect. The Portable note opens. Using 3.3.3 shows the 2nd instance.

I tried a few other things: I erased the AppData\Joplin Folder. Then trying the new version, no change. I Deleted the folder again, and tried 3.3.2, where the links worked. The Folder after 3.3.12 was used had several more folders and files, than the trial using 3.3.2.

Can this be fixed? I'd like to keep current with the App, but I need the links to work. I'm not sure where the starter notes in the new instance would be kept as I always delete them from my portable data. Is there another folder besides the AppData\Joplin folder that I need to remove.

I do not synchronize.

Thanks
Mike

It's a new feature of Joplin : the possibility to have two instances. The new one is virgin like was the first one.
At this moment (I use the JoplinPortable version too) there are strange behaviors sometimes...

So : you are not alone ! lol
