What issue do you have?

I've recently noticed the auto numbering (autocorrect?) feature in the Rich Text Editor, and it's been getting in the way of my work. I can't find a way to switch this off - does anyone know a way?

Thanks
Ben

Thank you for reporting this!

This difference is probably related to the upgrade to TinyMCE v6. It seems to be possible for Joplin to configure this using TinyMCE's text_patterns option.

Here are a few things that could be done:

  1. Revert or partially revert to the behaviour in Joplin 3.2.x:
    1. Disable the new auto-formatting logic for all users, without providing a setting to re-enable it.
    2. Alternatively, disable just the numbered list formatting logic for all users (by removing it from text_patterns).
  2. Add a new setting to Joplin's settings page for enabling/disabling auto-formatting.
  3. Re-use the existing "Autocomplete Markdown and HTML" for this feature.
    • Currently, the "Autocomplete Markdown and HTML" setting only applies to the Markdown editor. It could be modified to also apply to the Rich Text Editor.

Thanks Henry.

I think reverting to the previous behaviour would be good, or putting in an option to enable/disable the autoformatting. I was a bit surprised by it to be honest, feels a little unJoplin-like to me!
