Checkbox without bullet

When I add a checkbox item, it will always be a list item (i.e., it is preceded by a list bullet).
Is it possible to create checkbox items that are not list items? And, if not, could this be added?

See e.g. GitHub markdown, that denotes a checkbox as a list item, but shows it without list bullet.

There are no longer any bullets for list items.

(Check your userstyle.css. Maybe you forgot some code in there.)
