Backup Plugin

the error does not always occur?

Yes, after each daily backup, I open Joplin to see the same error.

Clarification: now the error always occurs after each backup.

Prior to my updating the plugin recently and enabling the single JEX file option, the error never occurred.

I think I have found the error

Minor nit. Well, maybe not a minor nit since many minor nits, piled up, become a significant annoyance …

"JackGruber-plugin-backup" — that's the github repo name. Fine. It's a PITA to change repo labels.

"Joplin Backup Plugin" — that's what the repo calls the plugin (though you start calling it the next name in your installation instructions).

"Simple Backup" — that's what it is called in Joplin (File > Options > Plugins)

"Backup" — that's how it is labeled in the plugin configuration section (File > Options, Plugins section)

... I think you know where I am going with this. Pick a name and use it throughout: Maybe update the "About" string in GitHub to state "Simple Backup" in there somewhere. Change the # title in github to state something like "Joplin Plugin: Simple Backup". And change the label under File > Options, Plugins section to "Simple Backup" instead of just "Backup".

Joplin suffers from a lot of loose threads, inconsistencies, and points of confusion. Simple fixes like this go a long way toward eliminating that one bit of head-scratching.

Hi there, I checked the plugin page and read the description section and tried to install the plugin, but I could not find the so called "Plugin" folder, please help. Thanks.

The Profile folder is C:\Users\<USERNAME>\.config\joplin-desktop

@JackGruber:

I will try later, the other two Joplin forum threads worn me out as you might notice when you answered one of them(1). Thank you.

(1):

I'm now routinely seeing this pop-up with each backup.

I have no folder "7zip-bin" in that path.

What does it mean? And what do I need to do? Thanks!

Win10

If you're using the 2.14.x pre-release, make sure it's up-to-date! There was a bug in a past release that broke 7Zip with non-built-in versions of Simple Backup.
