What issue do you have?

I installed Joplin version v3.4.12 on Windows 11. During use, the following error message often pops up:
EPERM: operation not permitted, rename D:\joplinData\joplin_active_backup_job to D:\joplinData\202512181303
This backup plugin comes with Joplin, and its version number is v1.4.3.
Some people online say it's a directory permission issue. I started Joplin "as an administrator", so there shouldn't be an issue of insufficient permissions for the backup directory, right?
I use Norton 360 as my antivirus software, and there are no interception or warning errors.
This problem has been persistent and quite troublesome. Please help me figure out how to solve it.

EPERM on rename on Windows means the folder is in use or locked by another process. It might indeed be the anti-virus - could you try to temporarily disable it to see if it helps?

And what is this joplinData folder, is it used only for backups? Is that a regular folder or a network one?

joplinData is a custom backup directory I set in the backup plugin. It is a regular directory on my computer's hard drive, not a network one.

Regarding the possibility you mentioned that the antivirus software might be occupying it, I will try excluding this directory in Norton 360. Thank you!

The bad news is that backup still gets the same error.

Does it work if you put the folder somewhere else? For example in your user directory under c:\Users\yourname\JoplinBackup
