is it on the roadmap to support plugins on the mobile app though?
There is a GSOC project for plugins support for mobile, so if someone worked on this, we may get it after GSOC is completed!

You haven't had to install the .jpl manually for a long time now, you should just be able to do it via the Joplin plugin menu, just search for JSheets.

Joplin now supports plugins on mobile. Users at Working hour tracking possible in joplin? recently discussed mobile compatibility for JSheets. Could that be possible?
Also, note that the Luckysheet library bundled into the plugin is EOL, no longer maintained, and had its repo archived. They recommend using Univer instead. I don't know how any of this would affect JSheets though.
Be aware that that bundles a library that is archived.
