What issue do you have?
In the past few weeks sharing a note from a web browser to Joplin on Android has been creating duplicate notes. These don't show up immediately, but start to trickle in over the next few hours or day. See the uploaded image for an example of a note being created four times over the course of over eleven-hours from a single "share" (I might have shared it twice, but definitely not more than that, since this has been going on for a little while, so I know to not repeat the action).
Any advice on how to stop this from happening would be great. Thank you!
Further details and context:
- Android browser: Firefox 136.0. (I was using Duck until recently, I believe the same error was happening then. I am not able to replicate on demand.)
- I don't know if this a problem with the Android share feature or something with the desktop version, I sync between these two installs using the Joplin cloud.
- Stalling out on shared. Sometimes when I share (from a browser on Android) nothing happens in Joplin. It either opens a blank note or a previously opened note, but doesn't create a new one. When this first happened, I re-shared it, but this didn't always work and sometimes it create duplicates. So now I just wait and often a note shows up later.
- Sync errors. A few months ago, there were a few times on mobile (Android) when notes would flicker (for lack of a better word) if I opened the app and started a new note (in quick succession), it seemed to happen while syncing upon loading the app. When this happened, note content would do weird things - "weird things" being content removed or notes changed, see the next bullet point Since then, I try to remember to wait a few beats before opening or editing a note, to avoid the sync error.
- Related to the sync errors (I think). Around the same time I had an unusual bug where the content of about five notes was automatically changed, the name and content replaced with that of a new note, luckily I was able to revert to older versions of the note since I had a paid plan).
- Plugins. About a week ago I toggled off all of my non built-in plugins on my desktop version. Joplin was using over 800 mg of memory and turning off the plugins cooled it down, the plan is to turn them back on one-by-one to figure out which one (if it is one) was the memory hog, but I haven't started that yet. I still have plugins active on the mobile installation.
- Timing. I had to wait a few days for the detail (created and updated) information to be detailed enough to show the specific date and time. Until after over 48-hours had passed, from the create of the note, the created/updated information (as set in View>Note list style>Detailed) displayed: " minutes ago", " hours ago", "a day ago", "2 days ago".
