Joplin version

3.4.6

What issue do you have?

Hated the new upgrade, tried to go back to the previous version and the install fails, so now I'm looking for a new note taking app. Changes for the sake of making changes isn't a great model in my opinion, but then my opinion rarely counts for much.

I didn’t like v3.4.6 so I just reinstalled 3.4.5 over it. Problem solved. Make sure it’s truly closed (Ctrl-Q) and go back a version.

Most of these features are optional by the way, or if they cause issues we can make them optional

Yes but you cannot go back to the last release version. It seems that at some point v3.4.x has also introduced an internal profile change. This means that you cannot go back to v3.3.13. You get an error telling you that your local data has been used with a later version of Joplin and you are then stuck.

I found out about the profile change as v3.4.6 does not work with my Joplin server 3.4.2. The sync errors with a "Failed to fetch" message. I have not had time to get the logs to see what happened. Anyway, to get back to a working copy of Joplin I had to delete my local data folder, install v3.3.13 and download everything from the server all over again.

What exactly do you not like in the new version? If you mean the way how the Markdown rendering has changed, you can disable those features in the Joplin's settings (see https://discourse.joplinapp.org/t/why-did-editor-pane-change-after-update/47008/2).
