I started using Evernote years ago. It was the first time I experienced taking notes digitally and access them from different, meaning every, device. I was aware that I wouldn’t trust the company completely. So I did not store any sensitive data with Evernote right from the start. I “only” accepted tracking of meta data.

That changed after the switch to Joplin and after switching to store my notes on cloud space I trust. With Evernote, I took notes every now and then for special topics (it was a perfect storage for my recipes e.g.). Now with Joplin I take notes on a daily basis and on all topics. I try to establish workflows and using to do’s to increase my benefit. And I fritter away some time here on the forum…

[OFFTOPIC Although I have to say that to me start using Joplin is harder than it was starting with Evernote, but it was worth the time I had to invest. I have no developing skills, but I now arranged with Markdown and I arranged with the plug in system. And I’m curious to see what comes next!]
